Polycomb Group (PcG) – A group of transcriptional repressors regulating cellular differentiation during development and physiological processes in the cell. PcGs control gene expression via mediating changes of the chromatin structure. Deregulation of PcGs affect the expression and function of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Different epigenetic events as de novo DNA methylation of PcG targets predispose the cell to malignant transformation.
